Common questions
How can you get permanent residency in Cyprus?
Cyprus offers multiple ways to get permanent residency. You can get an immigration permit for investors by investing EUR 300,000 in real estate, company shares, or an investment fund, and meeting income requirements. You can also apply for an immigration permit under one of six designated categories, or apply for a long-term residence permit after five years in the country.
Does Cyprus still have citizenship by investment?
No. Cyprus terminated its citizenship by investment program in 2020. To be granted citizenship as an investor, you first have to obtain residence with an immigration permit by investment, and then meet Cyprus citizenship requirements such as language proficiency and residency for seven of the 10 years preceding your citizenship application.
How long does it take to get Cypriot citizenship?
To become a citizen of Cyprus, you need at least seven years of residence in the country. The years don’t need to be consecutive, but they do need to occur in a 10-year window before you apply. You also have to live in Cyprus for the 12 months preceding your application.
How does the Cyprus 60-day tax residency rule work?
The Cyprus 60-day tax residency rule allows you to become a tax resident in Cyprus if you’re not a tax resident in any other country for more than half of the year and you spend at least 60 days in Cyprus in a year, while maintaining a place of residence in the country, and engaging in employment or business ownership.
