“Rich Dad Poor Dad” Talks About Capitalism, Politics, and Freedom

Freedom

May 29, 2023

Robert Kiyosaki is one of today’s most successful entrepreneurs and public figures. He is more popularly known as Rich Dad Poor Dad, in reference to his popular book.

He has publicly expressed his sentiments regarding politics, business, and the rise of cryptocurrency. Although not many people would agree on some of his points of view, this doesn’t stop Robert from sharing them.

In this interview, Nomad Capitalist’s Founder Andrew Henderson sat with Robert Kiyosaki. They talked about some of today’s most pressing issues like socialism, freedom, and even Donald Trump.

This article is only a sneak peek at what you can expect from this tell-all interview, which you can access here.

The Rich Dad Poor Dad Capitalism

If you’ve read Robert’s books, you might’ve already realized that he doesn’t hold back. He tells it as it is. It doesn’t matter whether he’s going to get censored because the truth shall prevail. Well, that’s what Robert believes in.

So when he said he would be releasing his second book later this year, these are the same sentiments he said he was afraid of.

In the United States, capitalism has been such a hated word. Anybody associated with it can sometimes be considered a “cheat.”

Although is that the case?

For a guy who has served twice in the Vietnam War, Robert has realized that there was so much more to life than flying planes and getting your post-graduate degree.

In the process, he has slowly turned himself into a very successful entrepreneur. He has also successfully established a brand that’s synonymous with his nature.

Nowadays, you can’t think of the term rich dad poor dad without thinking of Robert Kiyosaki.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert’s personal brand, something that is synonymous with him.

He said that what changed him and his perspective the most was how he came home after the war. Upon returning, he realized that America has suddenly changed.

It didn’t change for the better, according to him.

Instead, it has gotten worse.

Fighting For Our Freedom

Throughout the interview, Robert has mentioned time and time again how he had served in the US Marines. This was his way of fighting for his freedom and the freedom of those around him.

However, this didn’t come without any repercussions.

He briefly mentioned his book, “Rich Dad Poor Dad.”

This book was about his poor dad, who didn’t have an education. It was also about his other dad, who was from Hawaii and got a Ph.D.

Now, when you think about that, you instantly think about the shifting economic status of every single person in the United States. You think of how similar yet different most people we know are.

Naturally, it doesn’t make them bad people if they consider themselves capitalists or socialists.

One of the beautiful things about the United States is how everybody has the freedom to choose who they are and where they’re going.

You can be a capitalist or a socialist, and it wouldn’t even matter. If you decide that, then that’s your right. You’re entitled to your beliefs.

As per Robert, that’s the freedom you’re getting because his generation fought so hard for it.

Then there are people like Elizabeth Warren who claim that she’s a capitalist. To which Robert replied, “I could call myself Jesus Christ, but would you believe me?”

Looking at the Political Climate in the United States

Naturally, the country’s political scene has been the stuff of ridicule and talks over the last five years.

Donald Trump has been elected, and his administration was responsible for closing the borders. Then again, what did that do?

As soon as Joe Biden stepped in, he flung the doors wide open again.

Did it change anything?

If you didn’t know, Robert had written two books in collaboration with Donald Trump. He also claimed that he’s great friends with Trump’s whole family.

Now, we don’t know the guy, yet he’s caused so many controversies throughout his term.

As Robert said himself, “There’s no game dirtier than politics.”

That’s true, but that doesn’t mean that he will stop being friends with Trump.

It’s evident that Robert much prefers Trump over Biden. Then again, that’s the freedom that he has because he has fought for our country.

Now, that’s going to be such a controversial topic as it is, and he admits that he’s not the most politically correct person in the room.

However, what boggles his mind is how the country is run nowadays by such a weak man. What does it mean for the United States and its economy?

Maybe what Trump did wasn’t all bad. He did, after all, try to cut the country’s taxes. This is something that can significantly benefit all Nomad Capitalists based in the United States.

This raises the taxes for all people for the first time, and its deferral was eliminated or dramatically changed.

What It Means To Be A Capitalist Today

Are you at all familiar with Rich Dad Poor Dad?

In 1997, Robert wrote his book about how his poor dad didn’t get how a guy with no education could be a multi-millionaire.

Now, he’s reiterated a couple of times that it doesn’t mean that his poor dad was a bad guy. It just means that he wasn’t a capitalist. This is where they don’t see eye to eye.

During this interview between Andrew and Robert, they were actually in the middle of Nomad Capitalist Live. This was where most Nomad Capitalists all around the globe have gathered to exchange thoughts on business and just learn from each other.

As Robert says, “If you want to be a doctor, then you should go to med school. If you want to be an entrepreneur, then you have to know that most of these guys don’t even finish school.”

If you want to be a Nomad Capitalist in today’s world, you can freely do so because everything is basically at your fingertips. There are countless resources for you to learn from. As Robert says, you can even get his books to learn more about the Rich Dad Poor Dad philosophy.

Considering Yourself A Nomad Capitalist

According to Robert, most people who consider themselves Nomad Capitalists are intelligent people. They’re the ones who refuse to go under the thumb, and they continually stand up for what they believe in.

There’s something quite impressive about them, especially the ones they’ve both met during that particular conference.

To the young people of today’s generation, Robert has one question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

If you want to be a rich man, he doesn’t think that going to school will do you any good because you’re not going to learn anything about money anyway.

In school, they don’t teach students how to file their taxes properly, they don’t teach students how to invest in the stock market, and they don’t teach students how to be capitalists.

Robert believes that there are so many things that you can learn out there instead of sticking by the book. After all, this was what he did to achieve his Rich Dad Poor Dad status.

Andrew even said that you might consider going to Cambodia to try and find a business to start on that side of the world.

That’s the thing. You have to go after the things you believe in because it’s your right, and you’re entitled to that based on the freedom given to you at birth. This is something that Robert continually believes in.

As Robert says, the greatest joy in his life is when he encounters entrepreneurs or people from the younger generation who say their dads have given them his book.

That’s his greatest joy in life.

However, he doesn’t like it when all the prominent publications all around the world brand him as “racist” or “politically incorrect” or whenever he gets flagged for expressing his true beliefs and opinions.

Rich Dad Poor Dad Censorship in the 21st Century

Nowadays, you can instantly get flagged for being so vocal, which Robert has seriously struggled with. So whenever he comes onto different platforms or whenever he gives out various interviews, he says that he always has to hold back.

Now, that’s not what being a true capitalist in the 21st-century means, yet it’s continuously happening.

However, Robert believes that there’s still hope. Hope for the younger generation, and hope for the world to see that capitalism isn’t the real enemy.

In the coming years, there’s a higher possibility that most people in business will leave their legacy brand countries searching for greener pastures and lesser taxes in countries like Mexico, Puerto Rico, and others.

This was where Robert and Andrew saw eye to eye.

These are simply some of the things that Robert and Andrew have talked about in this interview, and you’ll be even more astounded to hear their entire conversation. It’s a conversation that might seriously challenge your beliefs, and you might disagree with Robert, but he’s got some of the most controversial statements in the world of business today.

So if you’re still questioning, who is Robert Kiyosaki? Then tune in to watch the full interview here.
