Dominica: The Nature Island.

Dominica is a single island located in the eastern Antilles’ Windward Islands in the Caribbean. It should not be confused with the Dominican Republic. Dominica gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1978 and retained use of the English language and a democratic government. Dominica is known as the Nature Island due to its lush vegetation, indigenous forests, and breathtaking mountains. The population of Dominica is small, with just 72,000 people living on the island.

Dominica is also widely known as one of the fastest countries in the world to get a second citizenship due to its long-running economic citizenship program, in force since 1993 and through which anyone can become Dominican.

How to Get Dominica Citizenship

Citizenship by investment

Dominica offers the world’s most affordable economic citizenship program, with a minimum donation of $175,000, or a minimum real estate purchase of $225,000 plus other government fees. It takes 6-9 months for most nationalities to obtain full citizenship. Economic citizenship does not require applicants to reside in Dominica or to pay taxes there.

Citizenship by naturalization

Residents who have lived in Dominica legally for seven years are eligible to become naturalized citizens.

Citizenship by birth

Dominica extends citizenship to children “by the right of the soil”, meaning any child born in Dominica is automatically a citizen by birth.

Citizenship by descent

Dominica offers citizenship by descent up to one generation back. If one of your parents was a Dominica citizen, you can also apply for Dominican citizenship. This extends to the children of economic citizens as well.

Citizenship by marriage

Residents married to Dominicans may become naturalized citizens after five years of living in Dominica.

Does Dominica allow dual citizenship?

Yes; citizens are legally allowed to have multiple nationalities.
